FAQ

WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR GSPS?

We got Pepper and Alice from Le Hammer from Fenrik German Shorthairs, located Sydney NSW Australia. She breeds for agility and sporting, as opposed to conformation or more traditional pointing and retrieving.

WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR DOGS?

Predominantly prey model raw with a small amount of high protein kibble, plus added supplements and top ups to meet the nutritional needs of our puppies and adults.

HOW DO I TEACH MY DOG TO PULL?

If your dog already likes to pull on the lead, there is a good chance he will pull in a sledding harness. For dogs that prefer to heel or lack confidence pulling ahead of you properly, there are a number of methods people use. Please contact us for a more detailed answer in relation to your situation, or visit ASSA to find your local club and attend one of their helpful beginners days.

HOW OLD DOES MY DOG HAVE TO BE TO MUSH?

The rules in Australia state that a dog must be 12 months old to compete. We personally recommend waiting till 18 - 24 months before beginning heavy work for any medium to large sized breed. There is no harm in waiting, only in starting too soon. Plenty can be taught from a very young age to set them up for good commands and trail etiquette, without the heavy exercises component.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

We use Non-stop Dogwear Freemotion harnesses and antennas, Lumac Sledding lines and hardware. Our current scooter is the Kickbike Crossmax 20D.

WILL YOU BREED MORE LITTERS?

Yes, once our intended breeding dogs have undergone more health testing we will consider some more litters.
